La soupière de Hedwig Bollhagen, portant le numéro de modèle « 591 », a été affectueusement surnommée « soucoupe à oreilles » par les employés de la manufacture de céramique de Marwitz. Ce surnom s’explique sans doute par la présence, sur les côtés de cette soupière, d’une languette elliptique caractéristique qui dépasse d’environ deux centimètres vers l’extérieur et qui sert également de poignée. Une chose est sûre : grâce à ce rebord pratique, personne ne se brûlera les mains au moment de servir. Qu'il s'agisse de bouillon ou de semoule, avec une contenance de 0,3 litre, ce bol à soupe de 250 grammes a également la taille idéale. Plus profonde qu'une assiette, plus plate qu'un saladier, cette coupe, d'un diamètre de 16 centimètres et d'une hauteur de cinq centimètres, est trois fois plus large que haute.
